Motor Vehicle Accidents Injuries
Dr. Azzolino and associates have completed many hours of post doctorate studies in the treatment of whiplash, post-traumatic head injuries, and commonly related motor vehicle traumatic injuries. We utilized objective neurological and orthopedic testing to document ones injury along with more advanced testing such as blind-spot mapping, videonystagmography, stress motion x-rays.

Nutrition Counseling and Functional Medicine

Isokinetic Rehabilitation
The Upper/Lower Body Ergometer (U/LBE) is an effective rehabilitation machine utilized for strength training and neuromuscular rehabilitation. The U/LBE has a wide variety of exercise speeds, work rates, and anatomical ranges of motion that when combined with isokinetic resistance, make it ideal for physical rehabilitation, performance training, and neurological reconditioning. The U/LBE may be utilized for the upper extremity or lower extremity independently or simultaneously in a cross-crawl pattern.

One of the direct benefits of the Ergometer is that it utilizes the extensor muscular system while allowing stability of the axial skeleton, and thus, the U/LBE is an extremely effective method to increase strength in the neck, upper back and lower back as well as extremities while providing low risk of re-injury.

The most distinguishing factor is that when utilizing the isokinetic feature the speed of movement will be controlled while monitoring the patients work load. In this feature, the ergometer will automatically alter resistance according to the force of the patient’s output allowing decreased resistance through the arc of movement in which the patient has the greatest weakness. Contrary to traditional rehabilitation measures involving a fixed resistance which can commonly causes injury in various ranges of movement, the ergometer is a very safe rehabilitation machine.

From a neuromuscular perspective, the altering speeds of movements and the movements of the large joints such as the shoulder and hips activate a great population of joint and muscle mechanoreceptors resulting in an increased frequency of firing of the central neurological structures such as the cerebellum and thalamus which are integral in the control of muscles, coordination, and balance. Many of the greatest benefits one receives from utilizing the U/LBE is an increase in their reflexogenic coordination of their musculoskeletal system.

ACNG is proud to be appointed as a research site for the Carrick Instititue of Graduate Studies and the Interactive Metronome. A current study involving the interactive metronome and ADD/ADHD/Learning Disabilities is being conducted.

Neuromuscular Rehabilitation
